A citizen who bought wheat from Carrefour noticed that the product's expiration date was 8 months past and it was infested with worms. The citizen, who recorded the scandal on video, filed a complaint.
Carrefour, one of Turkey's leading supermarket chains, has recently come to the forefront due to a food scandal. A citizen wrote to Şikayet Var, stating that the wheat purchased from the market was 8 months past its expiration date and infested with worms.
EXPIRED, INFESTED
According to the claim, the expiration date of the wheat purchased by the citizen is listed as June 2025. The consumer, who checked the product, noticed that the wheat inside the packaging was infested with worms. The citizen recorded the incident with a mobile phone camera, capturing both the product's date and the worms inside.
REACTION TO CARREFOUR POURED IN
Citizens reacted by stating that an expired and infested product could be consumed unknowingly, which could lead to very serious health issues, and that the supermarket should act carefully in this regard.
Following the incident, social media users questioned the inspection processes at the chain supermarket. There has been no official statement from Carrefour regarding the issue yet.
