Scandalous moments occurred at the United Nations (UN) World Urban Forum held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Ahbap Association founder and artist Haluk Levent, while harshly criticizing Israel's attacks on Gaza and Zionist policies at the podium, had the international live broadcast abruptly cut off.
LEVENT CONTINUED HIS SPEECH DESPITE THE SOUND BEING CUT
Despite the sound system in the hall being intervened and muted, Levent did not cut his speech short and continued addressing the audience without a microphone.
\"WE ARE A GENERATION THAT SHEDS TEARS WHILE WATCHING THE PIANIST\"
Levent used the following expressions in his speech: \"Currently, a false perception is being created in the world as if everyone who is not Jewish is hostile to Jews. This is absolutely not true. We are a generation that sheds tears while watching 'The Pianist' and 'The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.' We have mourned and continue to mourn for the ancestors of the Jews who lost their lives in Hitler's genocide.
\"THE ONLY THING WE OPPOSE IS ISRAEL'S MERCILESS ZIONIST POLICIES\"
Today, I am not addressing the world but our Jewish friends. Just as we wept for your pains in the past, please weep for the 20,000 innocent Gazan children killed in the last two years. Our target is not the Jewish community; we love them. The only thing we oppose is Israel's ruthless Zionist policies.\"
Haluk Levent did not delay his reaction on social media. The famous artist said, 'No matter how much they try to silence our voices, these embargoes they impose will not stop us. We will resolutely continue to stand against oppression and be the free voice of Palestine.'\"}
