Coastal erosion affecting the Terme district of Samsun has caused the pine trees on the shore to fall. Due to erosion, there is now a distance of 10 meters between the sea and the houses.
The waves affecting Gölyazı and Sancaklı neighborhoods, located in the coastal area of Terme Plain, have eroded the wooded area along the shore. Due to coastal erosion, the pine trees with exposed roots have fallen.
Sancaklı Neighborhood Muhtar İdris Aydın stated in a statement that coastal erosion threatens residential areas and expressed that they want authorities to take measures to prevent further damage to the shores.
IT APPROACHED THE HOUSES
Aydın noted that the coastal erosion starting from Gölyazı Neighborhood continues towards Sancaklı shore, saying, "After the breakwater works carried out in the region, the coastal erosion caused by the water current along with the north wind has caused damage in our neighborhood. Our water wells and pine trees have been significantly damaged. Due to erosion, there is only a 10-meter distance left between the sea and the houses."
Gölyazı Neighborhood Muhtar Ahmet Gelen also stated that there is serious damage along the coastline.
"EROSION IS ABOUT TO COMPLETELY DESTROY"
Gelen explained that there is damage due to erosion in the Gölardı Natural Life Protection Area, saying, "This is a very valuable place, the sea is very clean. It is a beautiful place for our citizens, but erosion is about to completely destroy it. We are experiencing significant coastal erosion. We are waiting for the authorities' assistance on this matter."
