Heavy snowfall and blizzard conditions affecting Van produced scenes reminiscent of horror films on the Van-Bahçesaray highway. The section between the 11th and 40th kilometers of the route, where visibility was completely lost, was temporarily closed to all vehicle traffic as of 15:50 by a decision of the Bahçesaray District Governorship. Construction machinery emerging from the fog carried out snow-fighting work.
In Van, snowfall and blizzard turned the Bahçesaray route into almost a horror movie set. On the road left behind a white curtain, visibility completely disappeared and transportation came to a standstill.
THE BLIZZARD BURIED THE ROAD IN A WHITE CURTAIN
Heavy snowfall and blizzard conditions affecting the Van-Bahçesaray highway negatively impacted transportation. Along the route, where snow blown by the wind covered everything, even a few meters beyond the vehicles became indistinguishable. Moments when a truck tried to advance on the foggy and snowy road resembling horror films were captured on camera.
STATEMENT FROM THE DISTRICT GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
In a statement from the Bahçesaray District Governor's Office, it was said, “The Van-Bahçesaray road, between the 11th and 40th kilometers, has been temporarily closed to all vehicle traffic as of 15:50 due to heavy snowfall and blizzard conditions and lack of visibility.”
WORK MACHINES EMERGING FROM THE FOG
On the route where the road was closed, work machines carried out snow-fighting work. The moments when a grader, emerging from the dense fog with its headlights and with chains attached to its tires, piled snow on the roadside created eerie images.
