In the cooperative investigation in Izmir, a second arrest warrant was issued against the then Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer. Along with Soyer, former CHP Izmir Provincial Chairman Şenol Aslanoğlu and former İZBETON AŞ General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya were also arrested.
The investigation initiated by the Izmir Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding irregularities conducted through İZBETON AŞ, a subsidiary of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, continues.
Within the scope of the investigation into the crimes of "embezzlement," "qualified fraud," "forgery of official documents," and "neglect of supervisory duty" related to obtaining benefits through the Limited Liability Businesspersons Gaziemir Construction Cooperative within the framework of the "Urban Transformation and Development Area Projects" in Gaziemir district via İZBETON AŞ, where 9 suspects including CHP Ankara Provincial Chairman Ümit Erkol were arrested, statements were taken from Soyer, Aslanoğlu, and Kaya by the prosecutor's office.
3 NAMES ARRESTED FOR THE SECOND TIME
Within the scope of the investigation into "embezzlement" allegations against the Izmir Businesspersons Örnekköy Housing Construction Cooperative, Soyer, Aslanoğlu, and Kaya, who were previously under arrest, were also referred to the on-duty criminal judgeship of peace for the crimes of "embezzlement" and "forgery of official documents by a public official" in this file, and an arrest decision was issued.

INVESTIGATION AND OPERATION
In the investigation by the Izmir Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the crimes of "embezzlement," "qualified fraud," "forgery of official documents," and "neglect of supervisory duty" related to obtaining benefits through the Limited Liability Businesspersons Gaziemir Construction Cooperative within the framework of the "Urban Transformation and Development Area Projects" in Gaziemir district via İZBETON AŞ, based on the complaint petition of the cooperative's new board of directors, victim statements, and expert reports, detention orders were issued for 10 suspects who were determined to be İZBETON AŞ officials, cooperative board members, and supervisory board members at the time of the crimes.
In the operation conducted by gendarmerie teams on April 9, 9 suspects including CHP Ankara Provincial Chairman Ümit Erkol were captured, and it was determined that 1 suspect was abroad. The suspects were arrested by the judgeship in Izmir where they were brought on April 12.
It was learned that Erkol was among the names with management responsibility during almost the entire period when he actively served in the cooperative management between 2022-2024, which was mentioned with allegations of connections in tender and bidding processes and where there is suspicion of financial irregularities, and that the claim that his son's company was among the firms bidding to the cooperative is also in the investigation file.
