An unidentified substance found in a home in the US state of New Mexico led to a tragedy. The incident resulted in the deaths of 3 people, while 18 first responders who were exposed to the substance during the response were hospitalized. Authorities stated that the substance is transmitted through contact and does not pose a threat to the public. Initial findings suggest the incident may be drug-related, and it was reported that two responders are in serious condition.

Major panic occurred in the town of Mountainair, New Mexico, USA. Three people lost their lives due to an unidentified substance found in a home, and 18 first responders who intervened were hospitalized.

Officials stated that teams were dispatched to a home on Wednesday on suspicion of an overdose. The teams entering the home found four people unconscious. Examinations revealed that three of them had died.

TWO OFFICIALS IN SERIOUS CONDITION

New Mexico State Police announced that 18 first responders were exposed to the substance during the intervention. It was reported that the hospitalized officials were quarantined and their health conditions were being monitored. Officials stated that two of the responders were in serious condition.

"NO THREAT TO THE PUBLIC"

Police reported that the substance is believed to be transmitted only through contact, not through the air. A security perimeter was established around the area, and it was stated that there is currently no threat to the public.

Mountainair Mayor Peter Nieto said initial findings point to a drug-related incident. Nieto stated that some health workers had been discharged but had not fully recovered.
