Sexual abuse on a 2-year-old baby in Tekirdağ! Mother and 2 neighbor children arrested.

12.09.2024 09:22

A 2-year-old child named S.Y., who was determined to have been sexually abused at the hospital in Malkara district of Tekirdağ, was taken to the intensive care unit after undergoing surgery. As part of the investigation, the mother of the baby, B.Y., and the 13 and 14-year-old children of the neighbors who were entrusted with the child, were arrested and taken to prison.

The President of the Tekirdağ Bar Association, Egemen Gürcün, made important statements regarding the life struggle of S.D. (2), a baby girl fighting for her life in intensive care. Gürcün said, "The final report has been prepared and the definitive report is available in the file. This was the reason for the arrest of the two suspects. Unfortunately, our child's sexual abuse has been confirmed by forensic medical reports."

S.Y., who was allegedly subjected to violence in Tekirdağ's Malkara district and suffered a brain hemorrhage at Tekirdağ İsmail Fehmi Cumalıoğlu City Hospital, was taken to the intensive care unit after surgery. As part of the investigation, the mother of the baby, Bakiye Yeniçeri, and the 13 and 14-year-old children of the neighbors to whom the child was entrusted were arrested and taken to prison.

The President of the Tekirdağ Bar Association, Egemen Gürcün, made statements to the press about the process after their meeting with the prosecutor. Gürcün said, "We have been following the investigation into the events that have deeply shaken the public in Malkara, which has been ongoing since yesterday. Today, we went to Malkara Courthouse and met with the prosecutor in charge of the investigation to obtain important information about the file and felt the need to make a statement in order to inform the public correctly and eliminate the misinformation."

'MOTHER HAS HIDDEN EVIDENCE'

Gürcün stated that the arrested mother of the baby, Bakiye Yeniçeri, did not share the evidence with the judicial authorities by hiding them and said, "Our child is 2 years old and there is a 3-day period between September 5th and September 8th, when the incident occurred. Unfortunately, during this 3-day period, the child was not taken to the hospital, and today, the arrested mother has hidden and concealed the evidence despite realizing the situation of her child regarding the incident. This was the reason for the mother's arrest yesterday. Because the mother is hiding the evidence she obtained and the findings from the judicial authorities against the unfortunate sexual abuse case that her child has been subjected to. Subsequently, by not taking the child to the hospital for 3 days, she acts against her duty of care. Unfortunately, this leads to the current condition of our child. The 5-year-old sister was also taken into protective custody after the incident. Two suspects, who were arrested for 2 cases of abuse, were taken into custody, and when I left the courthouse, two more suspects were giving their statements."

'BABY'S CONDITION REMAINS SERIOUS'

Gürcün stated that they received information that the baby being treated in the hospital is in stable health condition and said, "It was shared with us that the condition remains serious. Unfortunately, this tragic incident that occurred in our city deeply saddened us. As Tekirdağ Bar Association, we are fighting to protect the rights of children, women, and all citizens. Since yesterday, we have witnessed the meticulous and dedicated work of our judicial authorities and prosecutors in order to shed light on the incident. Detailed statements are being taken, and we observed that the investigation is not being conducted superficially. Thanks to these statements, those who have done this to our child have been revealed, and a detailed investigation is being carried out regarding the continuation and the period before the incident."

'SEXUAL ABUSE CONFIRMED BY FORENSIC MEDICAL REPORTS'

Gürcün stated that the definitive report from the Tekirdağ Forensic Medicine Institute regarding the baby has been added to the investigation file and said, "Due to the severity of the incident, our institutions took action quickly. The final report has been prepared and the definitive report is available in the file. This was the reason for the arrest of the two suspects. Unfortunately, our child's sexual abuse has been confirmed by forensic medical reports."
