At the lottery ceremony for judges of the judicial judiciary and administrative judiciary, AK Party Group Deputy Chair Özlem Zengin introduced her niece to President Erdoğan and responded to criticisms in the Parliament. Stating that there is a very sincere and humane picture, Zengin asked, "How can congratulating a young person influence the judiciary?"
AK Party Group Deputy Chair Özlem Zengin introduced her nephew to President Erdoğan at the Judicial Judiciary Judges and Public Prosecutors and Administrative Judiciary Judges Lottery Ceremony held on January 30.
"AT LEAST MY NEPHEW SHOULD GREET YOU"
During the lottery ceremony, Zengin took the microphone and said, "We won't see it immediately in the lottery, but... I want to mention my nephew Arif Dağhan. At least my nephew should greet you. We will see his name in the lottery as well," which caused reactions even within the AK Party.
RESPONDED TO CRITICISMS: I HAVE NEVER BEEN INCLUDED IN A PLACE LOTTERY RELATED TO ANY JUDGE OR PROSECUTOR
Zengin responded to criticisms from opposition parties regarding the events that took place in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBBM). Speaking from her seat, Zengin said, "In my years as a member of parliament, I have never been included in a place lottery related to any judge or prosecutor."
"ALL THE YOUNG PEOPLE THERE WERE JUDGES AND PROSECUTORS"
Zengin continued her remarks as follows: "Yes, it is true. My brother's son became a judge. When I attended this ceremony, all the young people there were judges and prosecutors. They passed an exam, they passed the interview, and they passed their periodic exams. They have also completed their graduation exam. Now it will be determined by lottery in which city they will serve. Technically, we are talking about a ceremony, not an institutional event. When I sat in my place and did not mention this, there was no problem, but when I simply congratulated him, you say this is a problem.
"THERE IS A HIGHLY SINCERE, HUMAN TABLE"
People react and show reflexes based on their own experiences in life. I am a person who applied for the judge exam but was rejected because a photo with a headscarf was submitted, and I could not even take the exam. Those who did not let us take that exam said they did it in the name of the secular Republic. Please do not overshadow the success of a young person. There is a highly sincere, human table, human...
"HOW CAN CONGRATULATING A YOUNG PERSON AFFECT THE JUDICIARY?"
All the young people who came there have rightfully passed this exam. No one has the right to overshadow them. What does it mean to congratulate a young person? How can that affect the judiciary? I reject all these attacks."
