The Sayra and Çınar Foundation, established in memory of 15-year-old twins Sayra and Çınar Alpgündüz, who lost their lives in the October 30, 2020 earthquake in İzmir, continues its goodwill projects.
KEEPING THEIR CHILDREN'S NAMES ALIVE THROUGH GOODNESS
The foundation, established by the twins' mother, Tülin Batmaz, has carried out numerous projects in the fields of education, culture, and social assistance.
Batmaz, who continues as chair of the foundation, told an AA reporter that touching the life of a child or young person brings a long-term responsibility, and that they support the personal and professional development of the people they reach throughout their education.
Stating that they stand by young people in shaping their careers after graduation as well, Batmaz said that through the youth council they established within the foundation, they ensure that young people take an active role in decision-making mechanisms.
GOAL FOR A NEW LIBRARY IN ANKARA
Noting that they are preparing new projects for young people, Batmaz said:
"With the 'It Starts with an Idea' talk series we are preparing, we aim to open a new window for young people in the field of social entrepreneurship. Through solidarity organizations such as the Istanbul Marathon and art gatherings, we try to provide resources for more children's education. We want to continue our library work and bring a new library to life in Ankara in the coming period. The common purpose of all these efforts is to contribute to a future where young people can stand on their own feet and realize their dreams."
SHE LEFT HER ENTIRE ASSETS TO THE FOUNDATION
Emphasizing that after the loss of their child they united around a meaningful purpose along with their pain, Tülin Batmaz said that the love she feels for Sayra and Çınar nourishes the will to stand by other children.
Noting that she took an important step so that the foundation can continue its activities after her as well, Batmaz said, "My greatest wish is for the Sayra and Çınar Foundation to be an institution where children and young people can knock on its door with confidence, and that will continue to live and produce benefits after me. For this reason, I left all my assets to the foundation in my will. I want the future I dreamed of building for Sayra and Çınar to contribute to the future of other children and young people. I care that everything I have worked for throughout my life serves the continuation of this goodness that bears my children's names."
