In Maltepe, Istanbul, B.E. (26), who is alleged to have psychological disorders, attempted to strangle his mother M.E. (56) with a scarf during a dispute at home. After his mother lost consciousness due to suffocation, B.E. knocked on a neighbor's door, asking for help, saying, "I strangled my mother." While M.E. was taken to the hospital by ambulance, it was learned that her condition was serious, and B.E. was detained.
The incident occurred yesterday around 11:30 AM in the Bağlarbaşı neighborhood. A dispute broke out between M.E., who lived on the 5th floor of a 6-story building with her two sons, and her son B.E., who is alleged to have psychological issues. As the argument escalated, B.E. attempted to strangle his mother with a scarf. M.E. fell to the ground after losing consciousness.
"I STRANGLED MY MOTHER"
According to the allegations, believing his mother was dead, B.E. knocked on the door of the neighbors, asking for help, saying, "I strangled my mother." Upon the notification of the residents in the building, health teams were dispatched, and after the first intervention, they took M.E. to the hospital while police teams detained B.E.
"HE LOOKED LIKE A WELL-BEHAVED CHILD"
Neighbor Ayşe Yılmaz, who described the incident, said, "I only saw the police teams and the ambulance. The crime scene investigation came. They took the woman to the hospital. The police took the children away. In my opinion, he was wandering around here. I had some needs. He was sending me materials, helping me out. He would go to the pharmacy and bring things for me. He looked like a well-behaved child. They lived with their mother. He has a sibling. I saw the police here. The ambulance came. They took the child away," she said.
