Galatasaray Vice President Metin Öztürk has resigned from all his duties on the club’s board of directors and affiliated companies. In a statement on his social media account, Öztürk claimed that he was physically attacked at the board of directors meeting on October 27 and that his deceased mother was insulted. “As of today, I am resigning from my memberships on the Galatasaray Board of Directors and the boards of directors of affiliated companies,” he said.
In the Super Lig, a surprise resignation occurred on the board of directors at Galatasaray, who are at the top. Metin Öztürk, who served as second president under Dursun Özbek's administration, resigned from his post due to an incident he claimed happened at the board of directors meeting.
“I CANNOT ACCEPT THE ACTION THAT TURNED INTO A PHYSICAL ATTACK”
Metin Öztürk announced his resignation decision with a post on his X account. Öztürk claimed that it was not possible for him to accept “the action that turned into a physical attack and an insult to my deceased mother” at the board of directors meeting dated October 27. Stating that neither Galatasaray upbringing nor the upbringing he received from his family allowed him to accept this situation, Öztürk announced that he resigned from his duties on the board of directors and affiliated companies.
HE BECAME SECOND PRESIDENT IN JUNE
Öztürk was appointed as second president in the duty distribution made on June 1, 2026, after Dursun Özbek was re-elected as president. At the first board of directors meeting held in the Abdurrahman Şeref Hall at Galatasaray High School, Mehmet Saruhan Cibara and Sedat Artukoğlu were elected as vice presidents, Can Natan as general secretary, and Mehmet Burak Kutluğ as accounting member.
NO STATEMENT FROM THE CLUB YET
Öztürk did not specify who carried out the attack in his statement. No statement has yet been made by Galatasaray Club or President Dursun Özbek regarding the allegations.
