Wynsors World of Shoes, one of the UK's long-established shoe chains, has decided to close 17 of its 47 stores due to rising costs. While discounts of up to 50% have begun at the stores entering the closure process, it has not yet been announced when the other branches will close.
The shoe retail chain Wynsors World of Shoes, operating in the UK, has decided to close 17 of its stores. The company, which has approximately 47 branches nationwide, has applied discounts of up to 50% in some of its stores as part of its downsizing plan.
IT DECIDED TO CLOSE 17 STORES
Wynsors World of Shoes, one of the UK's long-established shoe retailers, has taken action to reduce the number of stores following rising operating costs.
The chain, owned by private equity investment firm Modella Capital, plans to cease operations at 17 of its approximately 47 stores. This move by the company came after efforts to reduce rent and staff costs.
50% DISCOUNT APPLIED BEFORE CLOSURE
The Bacup store in Lancashire offered customers a discounted sale before closing. Prices of some shoe models were reduced by up to 50%, while a 30% discount was applied to Kickers brand school shoes.
As the closing date approached, the store increased discount rates and ceased operations after the campaign was completed.
CLOSING DATES OF OTHER STORES UNCERTAIN
It has not yet been announced when the other 16 stores the company plans to close will cease operations. A detailed schedule of which branches will close has also not been announced. Wynsors World of Shoes is expected to continue its operations in the UK by reducing the number of stores.
THE COMPANY IS NOT CLOSING COMPLETELY
The store closure decision does not mean the shoe chain will terminate all its operations. While there is no finalized decision that the company has gone bankrupt, it is not yet clear how the downsizing plan will affect other stores.
