INVOLVED IN 22 SEPARATE CRIMES
Teams from the Public Order Branch Directorate's Robbery Bureau initiated a comprehensive operation against structures that threaten public order and are referred to as "New Generation Criminal Organizations." Following technical and physical surveillance, it was determined that members of the network operating in Maltepe and Beyoğlu were involved in 22 separate crimes, including "attempted intentional homicide," "aggravated robbery," "destruction," "extortion," "unlawful deprivation of liberty," "shooting at residences and workplaces," "drug and arms trafficking," "threats," and "aggravated theft."
RAIDS CONDUCTED AT 56 ADDRESSES
After the completion of suspect identification and address determinations, teams from the Robbery Bureau initiated the operation. On Tuesday, August 4th, simultaneous operations were carried out at 56 predetermined addresses in Sakarya, Yalova, and Antalya, centered in Istanbul. During the raids, 32 suspects, including 2 minors operating within the organization, were taken into custody.
Detailed searches at the addresses yielded 7 unlicensed handguns, 827 rounds of ammunition for these handguns, ballistic vests, a quantity of narcotics, and numerous items used as crime tools.
THEY RECORDED THE MOMENTS OF THE ATTACKS
Security camera footage related to the actions of the criminal organization members has also emerged. The footage shows helmeted suspects on motorcycles shooting at targeted homes and workplaces, recording the moments with their mobile phone cameras for use on social media or for internal intimidation displays.
The 32 suspects, whose interrogations and procedures at the police department were completed, were referred to the courthouse under extensive security measures.
