Singapore, facing its lowest fertility rate in history, is rolling out a comprehensive support package to encourage families to have children and reduce the financial burden on parents. Under the new system, each Singaporean citizen child will receive direct financial support of over approximately 70,000 Singapore dollars, or more than 55,000 US dollars, from birth to age 17.

Singapore has prepared a remarkable financial support program for families considering having children. The country's total fertility rate fell to a historic low of 0.87 children per woman in 2025, prompting the government to take new steps in family policies. A year earlier, the same rate was at 0.97.

According to calculations by the Financial Times, the total value of the new support exceeds 55 thousand US dollars per child. In official Singapore government data, the total direct support is announced as approximately 70 thousand Singapore dollars.

70 THOUSAND SINGAPORE DOLLARS FOR EVERY CHILD

According to the system announced by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, the new SG Child Support Package will provide the same basic support for every Singaporean citizen child, regardless of birth order.

The new package itself includes support of up to 62 thousand Singapore dollars. When adding the existing 5 thousand Singapore dollar newborn MediSave grant and the approximately 2 thousand 500 Singapore dollar Edusave contribution provided throughout the school years, the total direct financial support reaches approximately 70 thousand Singapore dollars.

The most striking detail in the support package is that the 55 thousand dollars is not given to families at once. The system will be spread across the entire period of the child's growth.

A Baby Gift of 10 thousand Singapore dollars will be paid for each newborn child. Additionally, a total of 32 thousand Singapore dollars will be provided, with 2 thousand Singapore dollars each year from age 1 to age 16.
