Singer Yusuf Güney, who was arrested for using language encouraging the use of tea containing prohibited substances and was released under house arrest after spending 33 days in prison, broke his silence. In his first statement, Güney said the process deeply affected him, adding, 'I've been doing a lot of self-examination for a long time. What I've been through, the stages I've passed. I've made many mistakes.'
Singer Yusuf Güney, who was arrested for using language promoting tea containing prohibited substances and was released on house arrest after spending 33 days in prison, spoke for the first time since his incarceration.
The famous singer, who shared a video statement on his social media account, described his experience as "a great purification and moral accounting." Güney emphasized that his days in prison were a turning point for him and made sincere confessions.
"PRISON WAS A CHANCE FOR ME TO COME TO MY SENSES"
Stating that he experienced serious confusion and a sense of being lost throughout the process, Güney said he was angry in the early days but eventually came to accept the situation:
"I have done a lot of self-examination for a long time. What I have been through, what stages I have passed... I made many mistakes. The Creator does not come to one's aid before one loses oneself. I went to prison, saw things there... I was truly given a chance to pull myself together. I am so happy now that I thank everyone who played a part."

The singer also touched upon his previous metaphysical and unconventional statements, offering self-criticism by saying, "The secret should have remained a secret, I saw that. Not everything needs to be told."

Commenting on the general situation in Turkey, Yusuf Güney highlighted operations against crime and fraud networks and said: "A purification is happening in our country right now. No one is untouchable in this life. There are more to come... Cleanup was truly necessary. In this dirty life we live, never lose your conscience and compassion. Do not trust such people again."

Reminding that he was known in the past for concerts for soldiers and police, as well as social responsibility projects, the famous artist signaled that he would continue his music and projects from where he left off:
"I say this to those who trust my word; I never lied to you. That Yusuf Güney you loved, cheerful, doing good works with children and the state, is back. We will continue from where we left off."
