Göktuğ Kurt's campaign, as he awaits gene therapy worth approximately 2.9 million dollars in Dubai, reached 23 percent with this support.
In the Milas district of MUĞLA, an example of solidarity occurred between Göktuğ Karakaya (5), who is battling the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) muscle disease, and his namesake and same-aged Göktuğ Kurt. The remaining 325,230 TL, 5,161 euros and 164,831 dollars in the governor's office-approved account of Göktuğ Karakaya, whose campaign was completed, were transferred to the campaign for the treatment of his namesake Göktuğ Kurt. Göktuğ Kurt's mother Ece Tülübaş (28), stating that with this support the campaign reached 23 percent, said, "I thank them all very much from here; I'm so glad they exist."
DIAGNOSED AT 3 MONTHS OLD
Göktuğ Kurt, the son of Ece Tülübaş, who lives in Milas and is separated from her husband, born after Ecrin Kurt (7), was diagnosed with DMD as a result of genetic tests performed after a febrile illness he had at 3 months old. Tülübaş, stating that they have been fighting together with her son since that day, said that Göktuğ cannot run and play like his peers, has difficulty climbing stairs, and muscle loss has begun. A governor-approved aid campaign was launched for Göktuğ Kurt. Meanwhile, the campaign launched for the treatment of same-aged Göktuğ Karakaya, who also has DMD and lives in Milas, was completed. An example of solidarity occurred between Karakaya and his namesake and same-aged Göktuğ Kurt. The remaining 325,230 TL in the governor's office-approved account of Göktuğ Karakaya, whose campaign was completed, was transferred to the campaign for the treatment of his namesake Göktuğ Kurt.
WAITING FOR SUPPORT FOR GENE THERAPY IN DUBAI
Göktuğ Kurt's mother Ece Tülübaş, stating that she uses cortisone medication to slow the progression of her son's disease, said, "Göktuğ cannot run and play freely like his peers; unfortunately, muscle loss has begun. To slow this process, we use cortisone medication, but this medication does not completely end the disease; it only buys us a little time. We have Göktuğ receive physical therapy accompanied by physiotherapists one day a week. Apart from this, we also work on his exercises at home with our own means. I also take him to the pool once a week. Göktuğ also has a 7-year-old older sister. Thank God, there is no problem with her. I am also a carrier. We are separated from his father. While Göktuğ has been fighting this disease for about 5 years, he is also fighting the absence of a father; he has never seen his father since he was born." Tülübaş, stating that they need the gene therapy called 'Elevidys' administered at Medclinic Hospital in Dubai for her son's treatment, said that the cost of the treatment is approximately 2 million 901 thousand 907 dollars. Tülübaş, noting that their campaign is at 23 percent, asked philanthropists for support.
THEY CHOSE THE GÖKTUĞ WITH THE SAME NAME
Tülübaş, stating that during the campaign process their greatest morale came from Milas, said that the family of Göktuğ Karakaya, who is fighting the same disease and whose campaign was completed shortly before, transferred the remaining 325,230 TL in their account for her son's treatment. Tülübaş said, "The campaign of Göktuğ Karakaya in Milas, who is fighting the same disease, had ended and been concluded. The amount remaining in Göktuğ Karakaya's governor-approved account was transferred to us. This donation pushed us up by about 6 percentage points to 23 percent. Currently, our campaign is at 23 percent with the support of Göktuğ Karakaya. From here, we thank Göktuğ Karakaya, his volunteers and his whole family very much. They wanted to use the amount left over from their own child for Göktuğ Kurt. Another child could have benefited, but they preferred Göktuğ Kurt, who bears the same name in their own hometown and is fighting the same disease. I thank them all very much from here; I'm so glad they exist. They understand me because they have fought this disease and passed through this path. Their support is very valuable; I thank them all very much; I'm so glad they exist."
