The delegation of the DEM Party issued a statement following their meeting with the terrorist leader Öcalan in Imralı. The statement indicated that Öcalan's efforts regarding the process are ongoing. MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli had stated that it should be announced that the terrorist organization PKK has laid down its arms after the second meeting.
Following the call of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, the DEM Party delegation conducted the second meeting with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan on İmralı Island.
After the 4-hour visit, a written statement regarding the second meeting was made. The words that MHP leader Bahçeli was expecting were not included in the statement.
In the statement regarding the second İmralı visit, it was said, "As the DEM Party İmralı Delegation, we held a meeting with Öcalan on İmralı Island on January 22, 2025. During the meeting, Öcalan first expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic fire in Bolu and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. Our delegation provided him with the necessary information regarding the discussions we have been conducting."
The statement included the following expressions:
"Öcalan's work regarding the process continues. After the preparations on this matter are completed, necessary explanations will be made to the public.
As a delegation, we will continue our work and contacts, and we will inform the public as developments occur. This process will allow everyone, all of us, to live together and freely. With the hope of this happening, we are waiting for the valuable contributions of all social segments."
WHAT DID BAHÇELİ SAY?
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli stated in his party's group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, "At the conclusion of the second meeting to be held between the DEM delegation and İmralı, it should be stated without any conditions that the PKK's organizational existence has ended, that no results have been achieved through terrorism, and that this bloody page has been closed at the cost of many sacrifices."
