Former Fenerbahçe executive and person responsible for the women's basketball branch, Ufuk Şansal, announced that head coach Miguel Mendez has decided not to continue with the team, and following this decision, an agreement has been reached with Ahmet Çakı.

Ufuk Şansal, a former board member responsible for the Women's Basketball Team at Fenerbahçe, made a statement regarding head coach Miguel Mendes. In his statement on social media, Şansal said:

''THE CHOICE NOT TO CONTINUE WITH FENERBAHCE...''

"We have been carefully following the comments made in recent days about our Women's Basketball Team and our head coach Miguel Mendez.

First of all, we would like to thank Miguel Mendez for his efforts for our club and his contributions to the four-cup success achieved last season. He is a valuable coach who has played a significant role in the successes of the Fenerbahçe Women's Basketball Team. However, we believe that the process needs to be shared correctly in order to correct some misconceptions that have formed in the public. Our club's priority was to continue with Miguel Mendez. Accordingly, an offer was made to him for the new season, and plans regarding the team's future were shaped in this direction. Nevertheless, Mr. Miguel Mendez informed us that he would not accept our club's offer, in line with his career planning and personal preferences. Therefore, the separation is not the result of a unilateral decision by our club; it is a situation that arose following Miguel Mendez's choice not to continue with Fenerbahçe.

Following this decision, our club began work on the technical staff to avoid further delays in the new season structure and transfer efforts. Since the technical team structure and squad planning in women's basketball are interconnected processes, the necessary steps were taken without delay. As a result of evaluations made in this direction, an agreement was reached with Ahmet Çakı. We believe that Ahmet Çakı, one of the experienced and respected figures in Turkish basketball, will make significant contributions to our team. We thank Miguel Mendez once again for his contributions to our club and wish him success in the next part of his career.

Fenerbahçe Women's Basketball Team will continue its journey with determination, as always, aiming for the top in Turkey and Europe."
