A statement came from President Erdoğan regarding the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, for which he called on members of parliament to also come to Parliament. President Erdoğan, who appeared before cameras after the cabinet meeting, said, "Our work continues for the submission of the agreement to our Gazi Parliament in the coming days for the completion of its internal approval procedures."
President Erdoğan touched on the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement in his statement after the Cabinet meeting. Erdoğan stated that the agreement's domestic ratification processes are about to be completed and that it will be sent to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in the coming days.
"OUR WORK TO ESTABLISH THE INSTITUTIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE AGREEMENT CONTINUES"
Erdoğan said the following: Our work continues to establish the institutional infrastructure of the joint defense agreement we signed with Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on August 7. We are advancing our defense cooperation along two main tracks.
First, we are working in line with the goals of collective defense and regional cooperation. Second, we are taking the necessary steps to ensure that this cooperation attains a permanent and functioning institutional structure. I want it to be known that, as in NATO, activities within the scope of the joint defense agreement will be carried out on the basis of our national legislation. There is no validity whatsoever to the discourses that try to portray Türkiye in a different place and whose service is obvious.
"WE WILL SEND IT TO OUR ASSEMBLY IN THE COMING DAYS"
Our work continues to send the agreement to our Gazi Assembly in the coming days for the completion of its domestic ratification procedures. Türkiye's stance, sensitivities, and the principles it defends are clear. We never look at events through an ethnic or sectarian lens. We want peace and stability to prevail throughout our region. From now on, too, we will continue to defend peace on the basis of regional ownership and to strive for peace.
