Garip Island, located in the Dikili district of İzmir, has been put up for auction with a price of 1 billion 73 million lira. Garip Island in İzmir Dikili, which was announced to be a major tourism investment at one time and is known as "Turkey's Maldives," has been put up for auction. The island, which is a stopover point for yachts and has no settlements, came under the ownership of the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) in 2016. IT WILL BE AUCTIONED BY OPEN BIDDINGThe sale announcement for the island, which is 1 kilometer from the nearest land, included the following statements: "The real estate with parcel number 243, located in Bademli neighborhood, Dikili district, İzmir province, is a 357,731.84 square meter olive grove (known as Garip Island), and has been put up for auction by open bidding upon the request of the creditor's representative and in accordance with the main enforcement order. There are 3 unregistered structures on the island. The vegetation consists of olive trees, pine trees, and scrubland." SALE WILL BE HELD ON JANUARY 22The announcement stated that the island is located within the boundaries of the Thermal Culture Tourism Protection and Development Area, and that there is no 1/25000 scale zoning plan, 1/5000 scale master plan, or 1/1000 scale implementation zoning plan. The sale of the island, valued at 1 billion 73 million lira, will take place on January 22, 2025. TMSF HAD SEIZED ITGarip Island was purchased by Fİ Yapı for 32 million dollars in 2010. After the coup attempt on July 15, 2016, TMSF officials were appointed as trustees to Fİ Yapı as part of the FETÖ investigation conducted by the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. With this decision, all of the company's assets, including Garip Island, were transferred to TMSF.
