Former AK Party Deputy Şamil Tayyar made a striking post about former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek, who will testify before the prosecutor's office on Friday as part of the investigation against him.
Stating that he spoke with Gökçek, Tayyar said the former mayor's morale was high and that Gökçek told him, "Our necks are thinner than a hair before justice."
"I DON'T EXPECT ARREST"
Tayyar, stating that he does not expect Gökçek to be arrested after his testimony, said he thinks that if such an intention existed, at least a detention procedure would have been carried out.
In the rest of his post, Tayyar made striking remarks about the upcoming process, referring to the film "The Perfect Storm."
"THOSE WHO LAUGH AT GÖKÇEK TODAY MAY HAVE TO LAMENT TOMORROW"
Tayyar's full post is as follows: "Melih Gökçek is going to testify at the prosecutor's office on Friday. I just spoke with him, his morale is high. He says, 'Our necks are thinner than a hair before justice.' A mature attitude. What then?
I don't expect an arrest; I think if that were intended, at least a detention procedure would have been carried out. After that?
Those who watched 'The Perfect Storm,' starring George Clooney, translated into Turkish as 'Kusursuz Fırtına,' will remember.
It tells the drama of a fishing boat capsized by a storm rising from two separate fronts in the North Atlantic, merging at one point into an indescribable wave. It seems there is a 'Perfect Storm' atmosphere on the horizon. Those who laugh at Gökçek today may have to lament tomorrow."
WHAT DID HE MEAN WITH "PERFECT STORM" REMARKS?
Tayyar did not clarify which developments he meant with the "Perfect Storm" analogy. However, his reference to the film, which describes storms from two separate fronts merging into a much larger wave, and his immediate statement, "Those who laugh at Gökçek today may have to lament tomorrow," drew attention.
