The TV phenomenon quiz show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" is entering the new season with radical changes. As Cem Öğretir, who took over the hosting from Oktay Kaynarca, takes the chair, the grand prize has been raised to 10 million TL.
Turkey’s longest-running and most-watched quiz show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” is entering its new broadcast season with radical decisions. The competition, which has made significant innovations in its format, prize amount, and host lineup, has undergone a handover.
THE HOSTING CHAIR IS ENTRUSTED TO CEM ÖĞRETİR
Veteran actor Oktay Kaynarca, who is preparing to return to the sets with the new season series “Hamal,” has left his hosting role on the competition. The new owner of the seat left vacant by Kaynarca is Cem Öğretir, the experienced news anchor of the screens.
After giant names such as Kenan Işık, Selçuk Yöntem, Murat Yıldırım, and Kenan İmirzalıoğlu, Cem Öğretir will now host the competition.
THE BIGGEST PRIZE IN TURKISH TELEVISION HISTORY
Not only the names but also the rules that will affect the fate of the competition were rewritten from scratch. The changes made are as follows:
- The competition’s grand prize was increased from 5 million TL to 10 million TL, earning the title of “the largest cash prize to be awarded on Turkish television.”
- The number of questions contestants must answer to reach the grand prize was increased from 13 to 15.
- The threshold point, previously 50,000 TL at question 7, was moved to question 5 with the new arrangement and set at 20,000 TL.
