Orta Anadolu Mensucat, which has been operating in Kayseri since 1953 and supplies denim fabric to world giants, has completely closed its doors as of today. The contracts of hundreds of workers working at the 73-year-old giant facility have ended.

Orta Anadolu Ticaret ve Sanayi İşletmesi T.A.Ş., one of the most established manufacturers of Turkey's textile and denim industry, has reached the end of the schedule for permanently closing its giant production facilities in Kayseri. The company, which pulled the plug on September 11, completely halted all operations at the factory as of today (October 12) and terminated the employees' employment contracts.

The closure decision of the company, which has supplied fabric to globally recognized clothing giants for decades, once again highlighted the cost increases in the sector and the pressure of global competition.

EMPLOYEES' EMPLOYMENT CONTRACTS ENDED TODAY

With the closure decision, the employment process of hundreds of workers who had labored at the factory for many years also came to an end. According to the statement made by the company management, the employees' employment contracts were officially terminated as of today.

It was reported that legal receivables, including severance and notice pay and unused leave wages, will be deposited into the employees' bank accounts in a single lump sum and in advance by November 7 at the latest.

ALONGSIDE LEGAL RIGHTS, AN "ADDITIONAL SUPPORT PACKAGE" IS BEING PREPARED

The company management announced that, apart from compensation and legal rights, they are preparing a special social support package for the workers and their families. The details of this package, which is planned to include in-kind and cash assistance, and when it will be distributed, will become clear in the coming days.

73 YEARS OF PRODUCTION ENDED BY RISING COSTS

The global crisis caused the closure decision of Orta Anadolu, which was founded in 1953 and became one of the number one denim suppliers to world brands as of 1986. Management emphasized that the current structure had become unsustainable due to falling demand in the global market, soaring financing and operating costs, and harsher international competition conditions.

With the closure of the 73-year-old giant, one of the symbol names of Kayseri industry, one of the most important strongholds of the Turkish textile sector has shut down.
