Surprise Hormuz Strait move from the UK: Fighter jets and anti-drone systems being sent

The UK has taken a notable military step regarding the Strait of Hormuz amid rising tensions in the Middle East. The London administration announced that it will deploy warships, Eurofighter Typhoon jets, mine-clearing drones, and advanced anti-drone systems to the region, citing the need to protect commercial shipping traffic and its allies.

The UK Ministry of Defence has announced that it will deploy new military assets to the region to increase security in the Strait of Hormuz. The London administration announced that in addition to warships, Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft, mine-clearing drones, and advanced anti-drone systems will be sent to the region.

In a statement by the UK Ministry of Defence, it was stated that the security of the Strait of Hormuz was discussed during an online meeting attended by defense ministers from over 40 countries, led by the UK and France.

HMS DRAGON DIRECTED TO THE REGION 

The statement reported that the HMS Dragon warship, deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean, has been directed to the area around the Strait of Hormuz.

It was stated that in addition to the ship, combat aircraft, mine-clearing drones, and state-of-the-art anti-drone systems will be dispatched to the region, and mine-clearing experts will also be involved in the operation.

£115 MILLION DEFENSE FUND 

UK Defence Secretary John Healey stated that the UK is taking a leading role in the security of the Strait of Hormuz and said new technologies will be used to protect interests in the region.

Healey announced that a total of £115 million in funding has been allocated for mine-clearing and anti-drone systems.

Minister Healey said, "This investment is a strong commitment to strengthening commercial shipping and reducing the impact of conflict on people in our country."

MILITARY ACTIVITY IN THE REGION INCREASING 

It was noted that the UK currently has over 1,000 military personnel in the region, and attention was drawn to the increased military activity following attacks by Israel and the US on Iran.

The London administration had previously sent additional combat aircraft, air defense systems, surveillance helicopters, anti-drone helicopters, and autonomous mine destruction systems to the region.
