Following the admission of approximately 5,000 people in Tokat to hospitals with complaints of vomiting, nausea, and abdominal pain, Mayor Mehmet Kemal Yazıcıoğlu, in a statement, said they had received preliminary information indicating that drinking water samples had come back clean.

After the health complaints in Tokat, teams from Samsun Metropolitan Municipality and the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health took water samples in the city and conducted an investigation. Mayor Mehmet Kemal Yazıcıoğlu made statements about the teams' work and the patients' condition.

Noting that teams from Samsun also took samples and conducted an investigation, Yazıcıoğlu said, "One of the most important matters here is the work of the teams sent by our General Directorate of Public Health, that is, our ministry. We have now received preliminary information that their samples and examinations also came back clean."

"KNOWING THAT IT DID NOT ORIGINATE FROM WATER RELIEVED US A BIT"

Wishing a speedy recovery to citizens who experienced health complaints, Yazıcıoğlu stated that the process was carried out under the coordination of the relevant institutions. Yazıcıoğlu said, "Our governor's office, provincial health directorate, and public health teams, first and foremost, set an example of a very valuable intervention in this matter. I sincerely congratulate our professors, chief physicians, nurses, and staff at our hospitals."

Sharing the information given to him about the course of the disease, Yazıcıoğlu said, "The disease is progressing somewhat stably. It is stated that it is viral and contagious. Knowing that it did not originate from water relieved us a bit. Most of our patients are being treated. We have very few patients receiving inpatient treatment. We were also told that there is no serious problem."

CALL FOR PERSONAL HYGIENE

Stating that he was told about norovirus, Yazıcıoğlu asked citizens to pay attention to personal hygiene. Yazıcıoğlu said, "They said it is contagious. Our citizens need to pay a little more attention to their personal hygiene and cleanliness during this process. Our governor's office and provincial health directorate also made statements on this issue. I also request our citizens to take care of their personal cleanliness."

Yazıcıoğlu added that he would visit citizens receiving treatment at the hospital and convey his wishes for a speedy recovery.
