CHP Deputy Group Chairman Murat Emir made statements about his party's closed group meeting held at the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Regarding MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's statement that "New parties should receive treasury funding," Emir said, "If they have such sincere intentions, it is very easy for them to take a step."
CHP Deputy Group Chair Murat Emir stated that the official procedures for the establishment of the new party are ongoing, and emphasized that there is currently no concrete date or specific number of deputies involved.
Emir said, "It should be known that this process will soon reach a point that will make millions who have placed their hopes in us happy and hopeful. The days when we will show that those who stand in the way of the nation will ultimately be crushed under its feet are very close."
OMNIBUS BILL AND PENSION INCREASE
CHP Deputy Group Chair Murat Emir held a press conference at the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Emir stated the following:
"An omnibus bill is being discussed. One of the most important articles of the bill is the 3,552 lira raise given to retirees. The minimum pension, or base salary, is increasing from 20,000 lira to 23,552 lira. Retirees are hungry. If they feed themselves, they can't pay their rent and end up on the street. If they pay the rent, they go hungry. In fact, the salary is insufficient even for rent alone. This political power, which shows such ruthlessness towards retirees, is handing over billions of dollars to Russia under the guise of sending S-400s somewhere, abolishing billions of dollars worth of exemptions in one fell swoop, and giving up billions in tax revenue instantly. But when it comes to retirees, they plug their ears and ignore their cries. However, the rebellion and outcry of retirees will undoubtedly choke the power of these rulers in the end."
RESISTANCE OF MINERS AND TEACHERS
"There is a miner protest. As usual, 300 workers at Yıldızlar SSS Holding's facility in Beypazarı haven't received their wages for months. They've taken to the streets again, facing police intervention, disproportionate force, tear gas, batons, detentions, and workers falling ill. Similarly, workers in Giresun Şebinkarahisar, Trabzon Yomra, and Elazığ Eti Maden cannot get their rights. Some workers haven't received their wages for 13 months. In Turkey, labor rights are being violated. Labor cannot attain its due rights. Because the one-man regime silences everyone's voice."
"Teachers are in resistance. Since June 14, teachers have been seeking their rights. Private sector teachers do not want to work for 20,000 lira, which is even below the minimum wage. They demand a base salary implementation, job security, and the salary that the teaching profession deserves. They deserve it. But no one listens to their voice either. There are 1,611 teachers who are victims of the interview process. They have also gone on hunger strikes. Yusuf Tekin said, 'It won't work by going on a hunger strike. If they had come and told us, we would have listened.' He doesn't listen. His mind is preoccupied with settling scores with the Republic, with Republican values and revolutions. But there is a political power, detached from Turkey, that does not hear the teachers and does not even lend an ear to their hunger strike."
"THE CLOSED GROUP MEETING WAS ONE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE PROCEDURES"
Regarding today's closed group meeting of CHP, Emir noted the following:
"In the closed group meeting, mandatory decisions that needed to be taken by the group administration were made unanimously. Beyond that, we made no other decisions in the closed group. This group meeting was ordinary, involving processes that require the completion of procedures, where certain group activities are presented for group oversight, and where deputies supervise and discharge responsibilities. So, we needed to do this. We completed these procedures and, I am happy to say, we did so unanimously."
"THEY COULD NOT DIVIDE THE CHP"
"As is known, a dirty conspiracy designed unfairly, unlawfully, and at the palace was carried out against our party—the so-called nullity conspiracy. They aimed to divide and fragment our party, to create a leadership within it that they could easily cooperate with, by attempting to turn our party back to the year 2020. But they have been unable to divide or scatter the CHP so far, nor have they managed to create a semblance of internal conflict. They thought they could stop our march to power with a handful of incompetent individuals they could find at the headquarters, their every kind of unlawful practice, and the unjust court decisions opposing our every legal recourse. But as you all see and know, we are with our nation, we walk with our nation, and we listen to its voice. After the nullity decision, everyone—including those who devised this dirty plan at the palace—has realized that this plan has failed. This plan could not shatter the whole. This plan was thwarted by the nation's resistance and determination. And these cadres will continue to be the hope of the nation for power—the hope for a more just, more democratic, more prosperous Turkey in the future. Those who wanted to reduce us to infighting behind desks, in offices and buildings in Ankara have quickly seen that CHP members and the millions who have placed their hopes in us are standing, are on the streets, are in the squares. And this march is a march to power."
"THERE IS NO CONCRETE DATE"
"We have fought every kind of struggle to never leave our father's home. We have made every legal appeal, every political appeal. But every initiative we took, as you have all witnessed closely, has ended in failure due to the AKP judiciary and the lust for power of a handful of incompetent individuals currently occupying the headquarters by relying on that judiciary. Therefore, we are continuing the official procedures to embark on a new journey. There is currently no concrete date or specific number of deputies for us to share with you. But it should be known that this process will soon reach a point that will make millions who have placed their hopes in us happy and hopeful. Let everyone know that this process is being planned in the most correct way and will reach a conclusion. Let everyone rest assured. As the participation of our colleagues and the completion of official procedures continue, this process is growing and strengthening. With the great support we receive from the nation in the squares and fields, everyone will see that we are embarking on an entirely different path with our parliamentary group. We are embarking on a very strong path. We are with our nation, and the days when we will show that those who stand in the way of the nation will ultimately be crushed under its feet are very close."
BAHÇELİ'S STATEMENTS ON TREASURY AID
After his statements, Emir answered journalists' questions. In response to a question regarding CHP Spokesperson Müslim Sarı's statement from yesterday claiming Emir is power-hungry and asserting that he will return to the party, Emir replied, "They are not our interlocutors. We are with our nation. Our nation sees everything."
When asked about MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's comments that providing Treasury support for the new party would be ethical, CHP's Emir said the following:
"It is not possible under the current legal framework. However, Mr. Bahçeli is part of the People's Alliance. If they have such sincere thoughts, it is very easy for them to take action. This could be considered. But there is more to the issue than money. While the CHP was being attempted to be split, while a portion of the CHP's cadres were being held in prisons based on slanders and secret witnesses, let alone broadcasting the trial on TRT as Mr. Bahçeli suggested, a person held in prison for 14 months, like Mr. İmamoğlu, was not even allowed 14 hours to defend himself. While such a dirty political operation was being carried out against the CHP, nothing was done."
We of course want to receive the assistance we deserve from the Treasury. But we believe there are much more important ethical values we need to discuss before money. We also express our regret that if only Mr. Bahçeli's intervention had prioritized them. \"
HAS CONTACT BEEN MADE WITH THE SPEAKERSHIP?
Emir answered the question, \"After the establishment of the new party, have you been in contact with the Parliamentary Speakership regarding the new group that will form in the Turkish Grand National Assembly?\" by saying, \"We have not had such a contact yet. But the established practices of the Parliament already clearly show the entire roadmap. There is no new situation there.\"
To the question, \"Should we expect mass resignations today?\" Emir replied, \"If you notice, every time we step up to the podium, we say, 'Don't believe anything you haven't heard from us.' Every time, a lot of false and incorrect information is circulated. Some of our friends, even unintentionally, become part of this error. Don't believe anything is true unless you hear it from us.\" \"
HOW MANY MEMBERS HAVE RESIGNED?
Murat Emir responded to questions about the message sent to members by the CHP Headquarters following Özel's new party announcements and how many members have resigned, with the following answer:
\"There are some figures in circulation, but it is very unlikely for us to know the exact, precise numbers. Because that data is now in someone else's hands. We look to our nation. But regardless of the number, you can appreciate the limits of how many members could resign via e-Devlet in a single day. Therefore, when you look at politics, when you look at the streets, when you look at the people, you will see what is what, that our party is not divided, that it has made a strong start, and that very soon we will continue our path with a very strong start as a parliamentary group. It is known to all of us that every kind of speculation, every attempt at misleading perception from the Headquarters, falls apart within hours. We leave them alone with their perception operations, their slanders, and their mistakes. We look ahead. We focus on our journey to power.\" "
