In the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), Sırrı Sakık from the DEM Party opened the flag of the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government and targeted Mansur Yavaş's "rag" remark without naming him. Sakık stated, "Some insolent people call this flag a rag." In response, Turhan Çömez, the Deputy Group Chairman of the İYİ Party, reacted by saying, "Do you know why he called it a rag? Because it is a rag."
DEM Party Ağrı Deputy Sırrı Sakık opened the flag of the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (IKBY) during his speech at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. The flag opened by Sakık raised tensions in the Parliament.
SAKIK FROM THE DEM PARTY: SOME IMPUDENT PEOPLE CALL THIS FLAG A RAG
Speaking with the flag in his hand, Sakık said, "Some impudent people say that this flag is a rag. We say clearly and unequivocally. The real rag is your mentality. It is your racism, it is your enmity towards Kurds. Why are you so hostile towards Kurds?"
VERY STRONG REACTION FROM TURHAN ÇÖMEZ
The strongest reaction to Sakık's words came from İYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez. Çömez said: "You cannot label our group as Kurdish enemies. Kurds are the original people of this country just like others. But you are betraying them. You are betraying them with the instructions you receive from Qandil. We want everyone to live equally. But while striving for all this, you are exploiting the sincere feelings of the country with messages coming from İmralı. Do you know why he called it a rag? Because it is a rag.
"YOU CANNOT QUESTION MY CAPACITY"
Your capacity can only understand a rag. You cannot question my capacity. The term rag used by our deputy there is correct. You cannot present the rag used by certain terrorist groups in Iran, Iraq, and Syria as a flag."
MANSUR YAVAŞ HAD CALLED IT A 'RAG'
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, during his speech in Saraçhane, stated, "Yesterday in the east, while flags that I consider rags were being waved, and while the police were giving cotton candy to those going to that rally, we expect them to give cotton candy to the young people here as well."
