After the racist terrorist attack in the French cities of Trappes and La Verrière, where recent events have occurred, in which one person lost their life and five people, including a 12-year-old girl, were seriously injured, security concerns have grown in the country. While the French Council of the Muslim Faith called for urgent security measures at all mosques, DITIB France and IGMG France strongly condemned the attack.
Following a racist terrorist attack in France that began with high school protests and then sent the streets into turmoil, in which 1 person lost their life and 5 people were seriously injured, a security warning was issued for mosques. Islamic organizations called for caution against the possibility of new attacks.
SECURITY ALARM ISSUED FOR MOSQUES
The French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) called on all mosque administrations in the country after the bloody attack in the cities of Trappes and La Verriere. The Council requested that security measures at places of worship be raised to the highest level. In the statement, it was emphasized that suspicious movements around mosques should be closely monitored and entry and exit controls should be tightened. It was requested to pay particular attention to vehicles parked near mosques, to install security cameras and to regularly check existing systems. It was stated that fire extinguishers and emergency exit doors should also be kept ready for use at all times.
REACTION TO ANTI-ISLAMIC HATE SPEECH
The Council also drew attention to hate speech against Muslims after the attack. Criticizing some media outlets for featuring statements by anti-Islamic individuals, the organization stated that such content fuels hostility toward Muslims. While emphasizing that more determined measures should be taken against hate speech, it called for statements that lead to discrimination in society not to be normalized.
STRONG REACTION FROM DİTİB FRANCE
The Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs (DİTİB) France also issued a statement after the attack. In the statement, which included the words, "We strongly condemn racism and hate crimes," condolences were conveyed to the family of the person who lost their life, and wishes for a speedy recovery were conveyed to the injured. DİTİB France included the following statements in its statement: "As DİTİB France, we oppose racism, hate speech and all forms of discrimination in the strongest terms, regardless of their origin and motivation." The organization called on all segments of society to take a common stance against hate crimes.
CALL FOR UNITY FROM MİLLİ GÖRÜŞ
The Islamic Community Milli Görüş (IGMG) France stated that the attack caused great sorrow and sent a message of solidarity with the victims and their families. In the statement, it was said, "We strongly condemn all forms of violence and terror, which have no place in our society."
