The statement of 55-year-old Ufuk Köse, who confessed to killing Ebru Koyuncu, who has been missing since 2009 and was 17 years old at the time, has emerged. In his statement, Köse said, "We took Ebru to my ex-wife's land after her pregnancy became more apparent. There is an area there that we call a pool pit. I strangled her to death there. Later, I told her sister that I had killed her sister, and the next day we went and covered her with dirt together."
Münevver Koyuncu (60), who lives in the Sancaklıiğdecik neighborhood of the Şehzadeler district, reported to the gendarmerie on October 1, 2025, around 21:00 that her daughter Ebru Koyuncu had left home in December 2009 and that she had not heard from her since. Following the report, teams from the Manisa Provincial Gendarmerie Command, coordinated by the Manisa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, initiated an investigation. It was determined that Ebru Koyuncu had a relationship with her ex-brother-in-law Ufuk Köse that lasted approximately 3 years, that she became pregnant from this relationship, and that she disappeared after the pregnancy became known. In this context, the HTS records of 25 mobile phone lines, which were evaluated as having been used by the suspects at various times, witness statements, field research, and technical surveillance led to the consideration of the possibility of murder within the family, and a confidentiality decision was made in the case.
4 SUSPECTS DETAINED
Based on witness statements and field studies, suspicion arose that Ebru Koyuncu may have been killed by her sister Fatma Koyuncu (36), her ex-brother-in-law Ufuk Köse, and her step-siblings M.K. (46) and A.K. (42). Upon the instruction of the Manisa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Fatma Koyuncu, located in the Kağızman district of Kars, Ufuk Köse in İzmir, and M.K. and A.K. in Manisa were detained on February 23 in a simultaneous operation conducted by the JASAT of the Manisa Provincial Gendarmerie Command and the Şehzadeler District Gendarmerie Command teams.
CONFESSED TO KILLING IN HIS EX-WIFE'S FIELD
Suspect Ufuk Köse confessed during his interrogation that he killed the young woman and said he could show the location of the body. Following this, teams from the JASAT of the Manisa Provincial Gendarmerie Command and the Kemalpaşa District Gendarmerie Command, along with the Crime Scene Investigation Team, went to the Armutlu neighborhood of Kemalpaşa in İzmir with Ufuk Köse and Fatma Koyuncu. In the area shown by Köse, a search and excavation were conducted on land belonging to his ex-wife. During the operations, numerous bones and skull fragments believed to belong to Ebru Koyuncu, who had been missing since 2009, were found. The bones were preserved to be sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute.
THEY WERE ARRESTED
After the revelation of Ebru Koyuncu's murder, step-siblings M.K. (46) and A.K. (42) were released after their statements at the gendarmerie, while Ufuk Köse (55), who confessed to the murder, and his ex-wife Fatma Koyuncu were referred to the courthouse on February 26. Köse and Koyuncu were arrested by the Duty Magistrate's Court at the courthouse where they were referred.
"I STRANGLED HER TO DEATH"
While the investigation into the incident continues, Ufuk Köse's statement emerged. In his statement, Köse mentioned that there was a closeness between him and Ebru Koyuncu, the sister of Fatma Koyuncu, with whom he was living in a religious marriage while working on paperwork at Ebru's factory, and he recounted: "Later, Ebru became pregnant from this relationship. Ebru left the house where she lived with her family in December 2009. Her family never heard from her again. Then she came to live with us. Fearing that her father Süleyman Koyuncu would kill all three of us if he found out, I moved my house from the Sancaklıiğdecik neighborhood of Manisa to the Armutlu neighborhood of Kemalpaşa in İzmir. However, as Koyuncu's belly began to swell due to pregnancy day by day, the problem also grew. The sister and brother did not like each other and constantly had problems. After Ebru's pregnancy became more apparent, we took her to my ex-wife's land. There is an area there that we call a pool pit. I strangled her there. Later, I told her sister that I killed her, and the next day we went and covered her with dirt together."
HE THOUGHT SHE RAN AWAY FROM HOME
Köse stated in his testimony that Süleyman Koyuncu thought that his daughter Ebru Koyuncu, with whom he sometimes had problems during this process, had run away from home and was looking for her, saying, "Although he sometimes asked me and his other daughter Fatma Koyuncu, he could not get any results." Sister Fatma Koyuncu, on the other hand, denied the accusations against her, saying, "He only said that he killed my sister, and when he showed the place, I went and looked."
SHE FILED A MISSING PERSON REPORT AFTER HER HUSBAND DIED
On the other hand, it was learned that mother Münevver Koyuncu (60) was afraid to pursue her daughter due to the violence her husband inflicted on her at that time. It was stated that after the death of her husband Süleyman Koyuncu, mother Koyuncu filed a missing person report for her daughter.
