In Istanbul's Şişli district, a scene investigation was conducted in 2016 as part of the investigation into the killing of Aynur Kanbur, a member of the ‘Mezdeke’ dance group, who was shot dead.

The investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Unsolved Crimes Investigation Bureau regarding the shooting death of Aynur Kanbur (49) on March 24, 2016, on Nar Çiçeği Street in Fulya Neighborhood, continues.
As part of the investigation, the Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor, teams from the Istanbul Police Department Public Order Branch Directorate Homicide Bureau, and a 6-member expert team conducted a crime scene reconstruction on the street where the incident occurred.

Suspect Bülent Gündüz, taken into custody as part of the investigation, was also brought to the scene for the reconstruction procedures. Gündüz shared with the teams what happened on the day of the murder and what he knows about the incident.

Crime scene investigation teams also took photographs and video recordings in the area. After the completion of the reconstruction work, Bülent Gündüz was taken back to the police station.
It was learned that the procedures for Bülent Gündüz, Fazlı Kar, and Serdar Kar, who were taken into custody as part of the murder investigation, are ongoing at the Istanbul Police Department.
UNSOLVED CASE REOPENED
As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on the charge of "intentional killing," the unsolved file regarding the 2016 killing of Aynur Kanbur with a gun in Şişli was re-examined by teams from the Istanbul Police Department.
In the investigations carried out, the identities of Bülent Gündüz, believed to have committed the murder, and Fazlı Kar and Serdar Kar, alleged to have instigated the incident, were determined.

It was learned that among the 3 suspects caught in the operation organized by police teams, Bülent Gündüz accepted the accusations in his statement at the police station and said he threw the weapon used in the murder into the sea after the incident.
SECURITY CAMERAS REVEALED THE SUSPECT'S TRACE
In the security camera footage included in the investigation file, it was stated that Gündüz was seen moving quickly with a hat on his head on the routes he walked before and after the incident, and finally passing through turnstiles to board the metrobus.
In a statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that in the file followed by the Unsolved Crimes Investigation Bureau, Aynur Kanbur was killed by an unidentified male in front of the entrance door of her home, fired multiple times with a pistol. It was noted that the empty cartridge cases found at the scene have not matched any weapon to date.
"NO DANCER COMES FROM OUR FAMILY LINE" CLAIM
In the Chief Public Prosecutor's statement, it was stated that Aynur Kanbur was one of the members of the dance group known as the Mezdeke Dance Trio in the 1990s. The statement reported that in a petition submitted by Kanbur's sister in 2017, it was alleged that her relatives Fazlı Kar, Yüksel Kar, and Serdar Kar had threatened to kill Kanbur in the past and used expressions like "no dancer comes from our family line."
It was stated that following these allegations, the HTS records of the mentioned individuals were examined, and it was determined that their phones were turned off just before the incident and remained off until noon the next day. It was also stated that Yüksel Kar had gone to the USA two days before the incident and that his phone was also determined to be off during the same time period.

The statement also noted that following the establishment of the Ministry of Justice Unsolved Crimes Investigation Department, in the studies carried out, it was determined that the person who carried out the attack boarded the metrobus in Avcılar, and after examining the Istanbulkart usage data, this person was identified as Bülent Gündüz.
