In the village of Köşker in the Akpınar district of Kırşehir, as part of an investigation into Rıza Güzel, who was reported missing by his family in 2006, his wife and 6 children were taken into custody. During the work carried out by teams, bones considered to belong to Güzel were found in an empty field after 20 years, while his 2 sons were arrested.
In the investigations carried out regarding the disappearance of Rıza Güzel, born in 1955, who lived in Köşker village connected to the Akpınar district of Kırşehir, on February 5, 2006; upon establishing that the traces and signs indicating that he was missing did not reflect the truth, an investigation was initiated by the Kırşehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on the charge of 'intentional killing'.
HIS WIFE AND 6 CHILDREN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
After the establishment of the Department of Investigation of Unsolved Crimes within the General Directorate of Criminal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice, the file was re-evaluated. In the investigation conducted, based on findings that Rıza Güzel did not leave the village on the date of the incident, resided in the village, and that frequent arguments occurred within the family, suspicions became focused on the family members. Work continued in line with the suspects' contradictory statements, their indifference to the matter, witness statements, and investigations carried out in the region. Within the scope of the investigation, on October 6, 2026, an operation was conducted at 6 separate addresses in 3 provinces. In the operation, a total of 7 suspects, consisting of Rıza Güzel's wife and 6 children, were captured and taken into custody.
HIS BONES FOUND IN A FIELD
Following the suspects' confessions and crime scene showings, bone fragments assessed as belonging to the victim were found in a field in the rural part of Köşker village. The detained Z. Güzel, L. Güzel, B. Güzel, Z. Ş., B. Ş., M. Güzel, and C. Güzel were referred to the Kırşehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
TWO OF HIS CHILDREN ARRESTED
Among the suspects whose statements were taken at the prosecutor's office, L. Güzel and B. Güzel were referred to the court with a request for arrest, while Z. Güzel was referred with a request for judicial control. The court decided to arrest L. Güzel and B. Güzel and to apply judicial control to Z. Güzel.
