COMPLAINED TO CİMER, INSPECTION CONDUCTED THE NEXT DAY
A restaurant operating in Ankara's Çankaya district came under inspection by the Ministry of Trade following a complaint about its prices. After a citizen's application to the Presidential Communication Center (CİMER), teams from the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Trade took action. The teams went to the restaurant the day after the complaint and examined the price lists the business offered to customers. During the inspection, the price list at the restaurant's entrance was compared with the digital menu accessed via the QR code on the tables.
PRICES OF EXACTLY 34 PRODUCTS DID NOT MATCH
In the inspection carried out by Ministry of Trade teams, inconsistencies were identified in the price lists the restaurant offered to customers at different points. It was determined that the sales prices of exactly 34 products were different between the list at the business's entrance and the QR-coded menu. Upon this situation, inspection teams carried out proceedings within the scope of price tag legislation. The violation identified during the inspection was not limited to the price of just one product of the restaurant. The 34 products shown at different prices constituted the grounds for the administrative sanction imposed.
THOSE WHO SAW THE CACIK PRICE WERE SHOCKED: 250 TL
One of the striking details of the inspection was the restaurant's cacık price. While examining the business's QR-coded menu, the teams saw that the price of one portion of cacık was stated as 250 TL. However, it was stated that the fine imposed on the restaurant did not stem directly from the cacık being 250 TL. The fine of 135,082 TL was issued because the prices of 34 products in the entrance price list and the QR-coded menu were different.
RESTAURANT FINED 135,082 TL
Ministry of Trade Press and Public Relations Advisor Bekir Kaplan announced that the business was fined 135,082 TL. Thus, the application made via CİMER resulted in an administrative sanction after the inspection carried out the next day.
