A report indicating that the Gaziosmanpaşa Stadium, one of the city's iconic structures and the venue for matches of Tokatspor and Tokat Belediye Plevnespor, is vulnerable to earthquakes had been issued. Demolition work began with the entry of bulldozers into the stadium, which has not hosted any matches for about a year. Initially, the work was carried out in the section where the changing rooms are located.
