With the 2026-2027 academic year, the school uniform rules to be implemented in primary, secondary, and high schools have changed completely. With the new regulation, the era of directing parents to a single store has ended, and a strict ban has been imposed on uniform changes and the purchase of extra clothing for events.
The new regulation enacted by the Ministry of National Education covers all official and private primary, secondary, and high schools. The new set of rules, which exempts international private educational institutions and minority schools, aims to protect parents economically and prevent door-to-door agreements between stores and schools.
Before going shopping, parents need to consider the visual and basic features that will be published on the school's official website.
7 GOLDEN RULES OF THE NEW ERA FOR UNIFORMS
1. Decision Lies with the Principal's Office, Visual on the Website:
While determining the uniform model, the opinions of the Teachers' Board and the School-Family Association will be sought, but the final decision will be made by the school principal's office. The visual and features of the determined uniform will be announced on the school's official website.
2. The Era of Door-to-Door Stores Is Over:
School administrations or school-family associations cannot direct parents to a single manufacturer, brand, or seller. Special prints and designs pointing to a single store cannot be used. Parents will be able to purchase uniforms compliant with the determined color and standards from anywhere they wish.
3. School Crest Standard:
School crests will be a part of the uniform regulation. The procurement of the crest and where and how it will be used on the uniform will be announced by the school.
4. Exemption for Intermediate Grades in Case of Changes:
Even if the school changes the uniform model, students in intermediate grades will not be forced to buy new clothes. They can continue to wear their current uniforms until the end of their grade level.
5. No Change for 4 Years:
A determined uniform model cannot be changed before 4 academic years have passed. It will be essential that the clothes are economical, easily accessible, and suitable for physical development.
6. Requirement for Natural Fabric and Comfortable Fit:
Natural fibers such as cotton, wool, and linen will be prioritized in fabrics. Polo or crew necks will be used for t-shirts, and V-necks or crew necks for sweaters. Trousers will be comfortable and long-cut; skirts will be designed below the knee and without slits.
7. No Extra Clothes Can Be Requested for Events:
Parents cannot be asked to purchase special performance outfits using ceremonies, specific days and weeks, or extracurricular activities as an excuse. Additionally, flexibility will be provided for students who document a health condition.
