KIDNAPPED BY HIS FATHER AT AGE 1
Umut K., who lives in the Mustafakemalpaşa district, started living with a German woman named Rebecca S. while he was in Germany for work. The couple had a baby boy in 2018. A year later, after separating from his father, Umut K. came to Bursa to visit his mother Hanife S., who had remarried, along with his German girlfriend and 1-year-old son N.S. Deciding not to return to Germany, Umut K. told Rebecca S. to leave their son with him and go back to her country. After a dispute, Umut K. allegedly decided to kidnap his son. Wanting N.S. to be taken to a relative, Umut K. went to the market with Rebecca S. After they returned, Rebecca S. could not find her son at home, who was said to be missing, and went to the police to file a complaint.
FILED A COMPLAINT AND RETURNED TO HER COUNTRY
Rebecca S., who searched for her son for days in the district, filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office against Umut K. and his mother, whom she suspected of kidnapping her child, and returned to her country. While a case was opened against grandmother Hanife S. and father Umut K., during this process, N.S. was hidden by his father's relatives between four walls, without being allowed to go outside.
SPECIAL TEAM FOLLOWED THE 'SIGNATURE' TRAIL
Umut K. passed away two years ago due to a heart attack, and a search warrant was issued for grandmother Hanife S. after she failed to appear in court. Hanife S., who was taken into custody, was released on the condition that she report to the police once a week to sign. When Hanife S. also failed to attend other hearings, the teams from the Provincial Security Directorate's Public Order Branch began to follow the grandmother with the permission of the Mustafakemalpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. A special team of six was formed to closely monitor the grandmother, who came to the police station once a week to sign and went to her cousin Recai M.'s house at certain hours of the day.
FOUND AMONG PILES OF CLOTHES AND GARBAGE
Hanife S., whose mother is also reported to be of German nationality, came to the police station on March 10, signed, and was then monitored by the special team. The team, which saw the grandmother checking her surroundings and entering a dilapidated house with suspicious behavior, pressed the operation button. In the raid, N.S. was found in a weakened state among piles of clothes and garbage. N.S., who had never been to school and had not been allowed to go outside for 7 years, was rescued by the special team, and those moments were captured on camera.
GRANDMOTHER AND COUSIN ARRESTED
N.S. was handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services after health checks and placed under protection. Hanife S., who was taken into custody, and her cousin Recai M. were arrested on charges of 'deprivation of liberty' after their procedures at the police station. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
