The Advertising Board of the Ministry of Trade found the advertisements on the online shopping platform, "the lowest price of 14 days" and "80 percent discount in the cart," misleading. The Board decided to impose an administrative fine of 1 million 83 thousand 706 TL on the company and to suspend the advertisements.
Bekir Kaplan, Press and Public Relations Advisor at the Ministry of Trade, announced in a statement on his social media account that an investigation had been conducted into discount advertisements published on an online shopping platform.
In the investigations, it was determined that products offered to consumers with the statements "lowest price in 14 days" and "80 percent discount in cart" were not actually sold at their pre-discount prices.
It was determined that sales of the products at the announced high prices did not take place, while the discounted prices were continuously applied. It was assessed that this practice created a perception among consumers of a price advantage that did not actually exist.
A FINE OF 1 MILLION 83 THOUSAND 706 TL WAS IMPOSED
