In the dying minutes of the match against Palermo on Saturday, 29-year-old Klinsmann collided with an opponent and was taken to the hospital. Tests conducted at the hospital revealed a fracture in his cervical vertebrae.

Klinsmann, who made a statement on his social media account, said, "I suffered a fracture in my spine during the match, and this will keep me away from the fields for a while. I want to thank the fans of Cesena and Palermo, my friends and family who have supported me over the past few days." Klinsmann, who has been called up to the U.S. National Team, has not yet played in an official match.
