After the emergence of a photo of American Michael Anthony Ganoe participating in the protests in Saraçhane with Israeli soldiers, police teams took action. Ganoe and his Romanian companion, Danielk Alexandre Loftus, were detained at a hotel where they were staying in Sirkeci and were deported for the crime of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility."

Citizens reacted to the process that started with the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and continued with his arrest, by organizing protest actions in Saraçhane. American Michael Anthony Ganoe participated in the unauthorized marches in Saraçhane following the investigations against the IMM.

TEAMS DETAINED

After a photo of Ganoe with Israeli soldiers surfaced, teams from the Istanbul Police Department initiated efforts to capture Ganoe. Ganoe, who was found to be staying at a hotel in Sirkeci, and his companion, Romanian Danielk Alexandre Loftus, were detained.

DEPORTED

Michael Anthony Ganoe, who was detained, stated in his testimony at the police station that he was a freelance journalist and shared news via social media. The teams found no evidence that Ganoe was a journalist during their investigation. After the procedures at the police station, Ganoe and Loftus were deported for the crime of 'inciting the public to hatred and hostility.'

THEY MET AT A PROTEST IN ROMANIA

On the other hand, it was learned that American citizen Ganoe participated in a protest in Romania a few months ago and met Daniel Alexandre Loftus, with whom he stayed at a hotel in Sirkeci, after they came to Turkey.
