U.S. President Donald Trump described the attack in Washington that resulted in the deaths of two National Guard soldiers as a "terrorist act," stating that the suspect was an immigrant who came to the U.S. from Afghanistan in 2021. Trump also expressed that he would not be intimidated by such attacks in any way; on the contrary, he instructed the Pentagon to deploy an additional 500 National Guard troops to Washington to prevent such an attack from happening again.

US President Trump released a video message yesterday regarding the attack in Washington in which two National Guards were shot.

Describing the attack targeting the two National Guard soldiers as "a despicable attack" and "an act filled with hate," Trump stated that they consider the attack a "terrorist attack."

ARRIVED FROM AFGHANISTAN IN 2021

Trump mentioned that the suspect captured in connection with the incident was an immigrant who arrived in the US from Afghanistan in September 2021, arguing that the Biden administration's immigration policies have harmed the US significantly.

Trump also emphasized that they would not be intimidated by such attacks in any way, but rather would make Washington even more secure to prevent such an attack from happening again. The US President stated, "America will never bow down to terrorism and will not surrender. At the same time, we will not abandon the noble duties our soldiers perform." He expressed that he had instructed the Pentagon to deploy an additional 500 National Guards to Washington.

THE ATTACK IN WASHINGTON

The Washington Police Department reported that two National Guards on duty near the White House were shot around 2:15 PM local time yesterday, and the suspect was apprehended. FBI Director Kash Patel stated at a press conference regarding the incident that the condition of the two soldiers was critical. Patel reported that, according to the evidence they have so far, the attacker was a single individual, and this person has been taken into custody.

Emphasizing that they would investigate the incident at the highest level, Patel said, "This is an important national security issue. President Trump has also been informed about the matter and is closely following the process."

Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser, speaking at the same press conference, described the attack as "a targeted attack" and stated that they would conduct a comprehensive investigation of the incident in collaboration with the FBI. West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey, in his initial statement regarding the armed attack, announced that two National Guard soldiers had lost their lives, but later backtracked on this statement, saying that "complex information regarding the soldiers' condition has come in."

US President Trump, in his first statement regarding the incident on social media, noted that the two National Guard soldiers were receiving treatment in the hospital and referred to the perpetrator as "an animal." Trump also mentioned that the attacker was injured and would "pay a heavy price." US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, in a press conference during his trip to the Dominican Republic, announced that the number of National Guards in the capital would be increased following the armed attack targeting the two National Guard soldiers, and that 500 new soldiers would be deployed to Washington at President Trump's instruction.
