New details continue to emerge about the 42-year-old attacker Shamsud-Din Jabbar, who caused the deaths of 15 people in an attack carried out with a vehicle in New Orleans, Louisiana. A video has surfaced in which Jabbar introduced himself on the social media platform YouTube. In the video he published in 2020, Jabbar talks about being born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, and living in Houston.

HE WAS WORKING AS A REAL ESTATE AGENT

Jabbar states that he served in the army for ten years as a human resources and information technology specialist, learned the importance of excellent service, and took everything seriously. He expresses, "I acquired these skills and applied them to my career as a real estate agent. I believe that what sets me apart from other agents is my ability to negotiate fiercely."

Jabbar, who actively served in the US Army from 2007 to 2015, also worked as reserve personnel from 2015 to 2020. He left the army in 2020 after his mission in Afghanistan in 2009. State records revealed that Jabbar held a real estate license in the state from 2018 to 2023.

15 PEOPLE DIED IN THE ATTACK

At around 03:15 local time yesterday, a driver drove a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street, where New Year's celebrations were ongoing, and then got out of his vehicle and opened fire. It was reported that 15 people died in the attack, including 2 police officers, and at least 35 others were injured. It was stated that the attacker exhibited "intentional behavior" and attempted to "run over as many people as possible." The FBI announced that the incident would be investigated as a "terrorist act." It was revealed that the attacker, who was killed in a confrontation with the police, had served in the US Army and rented the vehicle used in the attack through an application called Turo.
