The South Korea-based automotive giant Kia made a striking decision in the automotive market. The company has halted the production of the Niro EV model, which is in high demand in Turkey.
Kia has decided to halt the production of its electric car Niro EV, which it sells in Turkey and worldwide. However, the sales of the highly demanded hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the vehicle will continue.
e-NIRO WILL ALSO BE WITHDRAWN FROM THE MARKET
Following this critical move announced on March 12, 2026, the brand's second mass production model in its electric vehicle initiative, the e-Niro, will gradually disappear starting from the domestic market.
The farewell of the model, which was introduced to the public at the 2018 Paris Motor Show and has a range of approximately 400 kilometers, is seen as a concrete reflection of the slowdown in the global electric vehicle market and the technological transformation processes of brands.
RESOURCES WILL BE SHIFTED TO ELECTRIC PLATFORMS
This decision, which has made a significant impact in the industry, does not mean Kia is withdrawing from the electric vehicle market; on the contrary, it signifies that the company will fully transfer its resources to the new generation "EV" series built entirely on electric platforms.
The company is expected to focus on more modern and technological models such as EV3, EV6, and EV9, which are designed from scratch as electric vehicles instead of models derived from old architectures.
