The report from the Forensic Medicine Institution regarding 2-year-old Rana, who lost her life due to an attack by street dogs in Konya, has arrived. The report states that the cause of Rana's death is consistent with dog attacks and bites, that the injuries occurred while the child was alive, and that the internal and external bleeding was due to injuries to the skull and internal organs. It also noted that no other findings were found that would raise suspicion about her death.
Rana El Selci, who went to visit her relatives with her family in the Karatay district of Konya, started playing outside while her mother was preparing food for iftar in the kitchen. Rana was attacked by about 10 stray dogs approximately 100 meters away from the house. While the dogs were driven away by the intervention of those nearby, Rana, who was taken to Konya City Hospital by her relatives, lost her life. Rana's body was taken to Syria for burial.
NO EVIDENCE SUGGESTING SEXUAL ABUSE WAS FOUND
Samples taken from Rana El Selci were sent to the Antalya Group Presidency of the Forensic Medicine Institution. The final report results were released after examinations were conducted on the samples. The report stated that the cause of Rana's death was consistent with the dog attack and bites, that the injuries occurred while the child was alive, and that the internal and external bleeding was due to skull, neck, spinal cord, rib fractures, and injuries to internal organs, and that no other findings raising suspicion about her death were found. Additionally, it was noted that the lesions in the genital area were consistent with dog bites, and no evidence suggesting sexual abuse was found.
"WE WILL FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST THOSE WHO SLANDER"
The family's lawyer, Hasan Yılmaz, stated that they would file a complaint against those who committed the crime of slander against Rana's family. Yılmaz said, "The cause of Rana's death has been clearly determined. In summary, it has been established that the injuries are consistent with the dog attack and bites. The lesions in the genital area are compatible with dog bites. No evidence of sexual abuse has been found. No other findings raising suspicion about her death have been found. Unfortunately, some social media accounts are putting the family in a more difficult situation with baseless and unfounded claims, misleading the public. Legal actions will be initiated against individuals and organizations that spread false information, mislead the public, and slander the client family. The necessary investigation is also being carried out meticulously by the prosecutor's office. The client family has buried Rana in their hometown and returned to our country with their own consent."
1 PERSON ARRESTED
Yılmaz stated that one person was arrested for spreading misleading information to the public on social media platforms, saying, "As a result of the complaint made by our other lawyer friends regarding the tragic incident, one person was detained in the investigation initiated by animal lovers against those spreading misleading information to the public, and was arrested by the court to which they were brought," he said.
