The baby, who stayed in the hospital for 47 days, was handed over to the family with a broken leg and bruises on the head.

In Şanlıurfa, the couple S.P. and B.P. tried to have a baby for 13 years. They had twins through in vitro fertilization on August 24, 2022. One of their babies, B., stayed at the private U.L. Hospital where the mother gave birth for 47 days. On October 9, 2022, the father S.P. was suddenly called and told, "You can come and take your child." He received his baby with shaved hair, multiple IV lines on the head, and a leg that was completely bruised. Following this, the family applied to the Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, filing a complaint against the suspects for "abuse of office."

NURSES THREW THE CLIENT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL

In the complaint, the incident was described as follows: "The victim baby B., who was left in the hospital completely healthy, was found with shaved hair, multiple IV lines on the head, and a bruised leg. He expressed his desire to see his doctors, namely Dr. İ.Y., who had been involved in the birth and care of the baby, but despite his insistence, the doctor did not meet with him, and the nurses practically threw the client out of the hospital. When the family, who received the baby on Sunday, saw that the baby was constantly crying and appeared to be fainting, they rushed to the private Metrolife hospital on Monday and were shocked."

LEG FILLED WITH FRACTURES FROM THE KNEE DOWN

It has been learned that the leg of the victim baby B. is filled with fractures from the knee down, as examined in the documents and the CD submitted to the case. Additionally, there are bruising-like marks on many parts of the baby's body, and the current condition of the baby is heartbreaking. The shaving of the baby's hair and the opening of IV lines, along with the presence of many butterfly marks, led to the suspicion that there were issues with the baby's head or skull, and an appointment was made for a head and skull examination on October 16, 2022. The father S.P. has been trying to reach the private U.L. Hospital for days to find out what happened to his baby, but he has received no information, and his calls have been hung up every time.

"WE DEMAND THE SEVEREST PUNISHMENT"

There has been a violation of the obligation to inform, which is one of the most important responsibilities of the doctors and the hospital, and no information has been provided regarding how a newborn baby came to be in this condition. For all the reasons stated above, we feel the need to request an investigation into the suspects regarding the relevant crimes and to initiate a public case. Therefore, we demand the suspects be punished in the severest manner."

INVESTIGATION PERMISSION WAS NOT GRANTED

Following the family's complaint, the Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office wrote to the Ministry of Health's Professional Responsibility Board, requesting permission to investigate the suspect healthcare workers. On July 11, 2023, the Ministry of Health reported that it did not grant permission for an investigation on the grounds that "there was no fault in the actions of those complained about in the incident." Due to the Ministry's refusal to grant investigation permission, the Prosecutor's Office decided to remove the case from processing on behalf of the public on April 30, 2024.
