On the first day of the 9-day Ramadan Bayram holiday, 766 accidents occurred across the country, resulting in 5 fatalities and 1,219 injuries. Minister Yerlikaya, who announced the toll, stated, "Our teams are taking the necessary measures for the safety of our citizens. Our inspections are not for penalizing, but to prevent accidents and to bring our loss of life to zero."
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that 5 people lost their lives and 1,219 citizens were injured in 766 traffic accidents that occurred across the country on the first day of the 9-day Ramadan Bayram holiday.
Yerlikaya expressed the following in a statement on his social media account: "The 9-day Ramadan Bayram holiday started yesterday. On the first day of the holiday (Saturday), 766 traffic accidents occurred. Unfortunately, 5 of our citizens lost their lives, and 1,219 of our citizens were injured. I pray for God's mercy on the citizens who lost their lives, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.

During the 9-day Ramadan Bayram holiday, our Police and Gendarmerie Traffic Teams are taking necessary precautions for the safety of our citizens and are conducting inspections with great sensitivity. On the first day of the holiday, our traffic teams inspected 508,962 vehicles. Speed and radar operations were conducted on 29,622 vehicles, while other operations were carried out on 46,282 vehicles. Our inspections are not for punishment, but to prevent accidents and to reduce our loss of life to zero.
Let's obey traffic rules so that our holiday joy is not mixed with sorrow. Roads exist to reunite us with our loved ones, not to separate us."
