American actor Chamberlain starred in films and series such as 'The Man Without a Past', 'The Slipper and the Rose', 'The Count of Monte Cristo', 'Solomon's Treasure', 'Dr. Kildare', 'Shogun', and 'The Thorn Birds'.
WHO IS RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN?
Born in Beverly Hills in 1934, Richard Chamberlain studied painting at Pomona College before pursuing acting in his youth.
After serving in the U.S. Army, he began his acting training and became known for his role in the Dr. Kildare series, which he starred in in 1961. This role instantly turned him into a youth idol. From 1963 to 1965, he was voted 'most popular male actor' by Photoplay magazine for three consecutive years.
In the 1980s, Chamberlain, known as the 'king of mini-series' on television, starred in major productions such as Shogun and The Thorn Birds. Especially, The Thorn Birds reached 60% of television viewers in the U.S. and won 16 Emmy nominations.
