After Ankara, the ban on meetings and demonstrations in Izmir has been extended until March 29.

The Ankara Governorship has extended the ban on meetings and demonstrations across the province until April 1 at 23:59. Following Ankara, the İzmir Governorship also announced that the ban on meetings, demonstration marches, and press statements has been extended for 4 days.
ANKARA GOVERNORSHIP MADE A STATEMENT
In a statement from the Ankara Governorship, it was said: "In the context of the investigations conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it has been obtained that unlawful meetings and demonstration marches, followed by acts of violence, would be carried out by provoking the public through provocative posts made on media and similar platforms and other information obtained. Therefore, a ban decision numbered 423736 and dated March 21, 2025, was announced to the public with details shared by our Governorship."
Despite the aforementioned ban decision, it has been observed that unauthorized actions and events continue across our province, and that violence is being used by those participating in these actions, posing a threat to the safety of the public's property and life, and causing damage to public property.
In this context, in our province; in order to ensure peace and security, the inviolability of the person, the safety related to the management of public welfare, national security, public order, prevention of crime, protection of public health and general morality, or the rights and freedoms of others, preventive law enforcement measures have been taken to prevent actions constituting crimes and to establish general order. Therefore, closed and open meetings, demonstration marches, press statements, setting up tents, opening stands, sit-ins, signature campaigns, and similar types of actions and events, as well as the distribution of leaflets and the hanging of banners/posters, have been prohibited from 00:00 on March 26, 2025, Wednesday, until 23:59 on April 1, 2025, in accordance with Articles 17 and 19 of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911 and paragraphs (A) and (C) of Article 11 of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442. Necessary judicial and administrative actions will be taken against those who do not comply with the aforementioned orders and prohibitions in accordance with the relevant legislation."
EXTENDED IN IZMIR AS WELL
The İzmir Governorship also announced that the ban on meetings, demonstration marches, and press statements has been extended for 4 days. In a written statement from the Governorship, it was stated, "In accordance with the decision taken by our Governorship, in order to maintain public order and prevent potential provocative actions, all kinds of meetings, demonstration marches, and press statements have been banned for 4 (four) days from 00:00 on March 26, 2025, to 23:59 on March 29, 2025."
