FRIGHTENING EXPLOSION AT MIDNIGHT
An explosion occurred near the US Embassy in Oslo, the capital of Norway, during the night. While the Norwegian police stated that there were no casualties or injuries in the incident, they reported that the explosion caused minor damage at the entrance of the consular section.
SMOKE RISING FROM THE BUILDING
According to information provided by police officials, the explosion took place around 01:00 on Sunday in the western part of Oslo where the embassy complex is located. Eyewitnesses reported that the sound of the explosion was heard strongly in the surrounding area and that smoke was rising from the embassy complex after the incident.
Speaking to Norway's public broadcaster NRK, police spokesperson Mikael Dellemyr confirmed that they have verified the explosion targeted the US Embassy, stating that the incident occurred at the entrance of the consular section.
The Oslo Police Department announced that the cause of the explosion and who or what was involved in the incident has not yet been determined. It was reported that police teams are in contact with embassy officials and that no one was injured in the incident.
