Images have emerged of a man named Ali, who repeatedly punched his wife in the face on the street in Eskişehir, and it has been claimed that he previously hit her with a paving stone. The female muhtar stated that she is against violence towards women.
In the Erenköy neighborhood of the Odunpazarı district in Eskişehir, a man named Ali beat his wife in the middle of the street.
HE BEAT HIS WIFE IN THE STREET UNTIL SHE FAINTED In footage recorded by a citizen's mobile phone, the man is seen running towards his wife in the street, grabbing her by the hair and forcing her to sit on the ground, hitting her in the face multiple times. Amid the woman's screams, the man showed physical violence towards his wife for minutes before returning home as if nothing had happened. The incident, in which the woman lay on the ground half-unconscious from the blows she received, was shocking.
HE WAS DETAINED Following the emergence of the footage, the Eskişehir Provincial Police Department initiated an investigation. The man was taken from the residence where the incident occurred and detained. Additionally, it was learned that the detained individual was a foreign national who had acquired Turkish citizenship.
"HE EVEN HIT HER WITH A PAVING STONE RECENTLY" One of the neighbors of the abused woman stated that the same man had previously hit his wife multiple times with a paving stone. The neighbor, who claimed to have witnessed both the incident of the woman being beaten with the paving stone and today's event, said, "I know the woman as Fatma; that's what the police called her. I don't know the name of her husband, but he was constantly beating her. We were always witnessing it. We were constantly calling the police. All the neighbors were witnesses; they all saw it, he was beating her. The police would come and tell the woman to 'file a complaint.' The woman would always say, 'I have no family, I have no family,' and they would reconcile again. They have been living here for almost a year and a half. We have witnessed the woman being beaten many times. Recently, he even hit her on the back with a paving stone. A new video has also come out. We haven't seen the video, but we were very upset for the woman. He was hitting the woman on the back with the paving stone. We saw it with our own eyes, and the woman was screaming. She had bruises on her face. Her eye was swollen; I don't know more. She was in a very difficult situation. In the morning, a yellow taxi came. It took the woman away. The police took the man away too," he said.
"I WILL FOLLOW UP ON THIS INCIDENT" Regarding the issue, Erenköy Neighborhood Muhtar Sıdıkanur Karabulut stated, "A refugee citizen is attacking his wife. Unfortunately, such an incident occurred. The incident took place in a location while exiting from Denk Street to Şantiye Street. As a female muhtar, I stand against violence towards women. I will also follow up on this incident. The individual is currently detained. The procedures are ongoing. As a female muhtar, I absolutely do not accept this," she said.
