The musician İskender Kodalak, who killed his wife by cutting her throat and left her body by the pond, appeared before a judge for the first time. Kodalak stated, "I took the knife in my hand, but it broke. There was a struggle between us. I also took the screwdriver from the car. After that, I saw her on the ground; I don't remember the rest."
On December 30, 2024, in the Kaynarca district of Sakarya, musician İskender Kodalak (42) killed his 12-year-old wife Simge Kodalak (31) by cutting her throat and then left her body by the side of the Müezzinler Göleti road. İskender Kodalak, who went to the Kocaali Police Department and surrendered, was arrested.
THE MONSTER HUSBAND APPEARED IN COURT FOR THE FIRST TIME
With the indictment prepared by the Sakarya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a case was opened against İskender Kodalak at the Sakarya 2nd Heavy Penal Court with a request for aggravated life imprisonment. In the first hearing of the case held today, the defendant İskender Kodalak was present in the courtroom. During the hearing, 3 out of 6 witnesses were heard. The defendant's lawyers claimed that İskender Kodalak had psychological issues. İskender Kodalak, in his defense, stated that there were no problems between him and his wife, but they had started to experience issues recently.
"THE KNIFE BROKE, I TOOK THE SCREWDRIVER"
Kodalak claimed that the incident occurred due to jealousy, stating, "I didn't see anything with my own eyes, but I suspected her. On the day of the incident, when we discussed this issue at home in the morning, we started to argue. When the voices got loud, we decided to go outside. When we got to the scene, we continued to argue. I took the knife in my hand, but it broke. There was a struggle between us. I took the screwdriver from the car. After that, I saw her on the ground, I don't remember the rest," he said.
"WE WANT REAL JUSTICE, NOT MALE JUSTICE"
The Sakarya Women's Platform made a press statement in front of the Sakarya Courthouse with the family of Simge Kodalak before the hearing. In the statement read by the platform's spokesperson Müyesser Metin, it was said, "Today, we gathered here, just two days ago we were here for Şelale's hearing. Today, we came together again to demand justice for our sister Simge, who was brutally murdered by a man. As part of the pursuit of justice initiated after her murder, we reiterate that we want real justice, not male justice."
