Teams sprang into action after cracks formed in different sections of a 3-story building in the Yenişehir district of Mersin. The building, which was inspected by teams from AFAD, the police, the municipality, and the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, was evacuated for security reasons. It was reported that approximately 40 people will be accommodated at the Yenişehir Municipality Guesthouse.

CRACKS FORMED IN THE 3-STORY BUILDING
Cracks that appeared in a 3-story building located in Gazi Neighborhood of Yenişehir district in Mersin prompted officials to take action. It was determined that cracks had formed in different parts of the building on 1305 Street. While the cause of the cracks has not yet been determined, relevant institutions were notified after the situation was reported. An inspection was launched to ensure the safety of citizens living in the building.
AFAD AND MUNICIPALITY TEAMS DISPATCHED
Following the report, teams from many institutions were directed to the area. Teams from AFAD, the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the police, and Yenişehir Municipality arrived at the scene and conducted inspections. The teams carried out work to assess the cracks that had formed in various parts of the building. During the inspections, the priority was to prevent citizens living in the building from facing any danger. It was decided to take precautions due to the risks the cracks could pose to the safety of the structure.
DISTRICT GOVERNOR CAME TO THE SCENE
Yenişehir District Governor Nevzat Şengök also went to the scene and followed the work being carried out. Şengök, who spoke with officials inspecting the building, received information about the condition of the structure and the security measures taken. In the inspections attended by teams from different institutions, work aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens living in the building came to the fore.
BUILDING EVACUATED AS A PRECAUTION
Following the evaluations by the teams, it was decided to evacuate the 3-story building. Citizens living in the building were evacuated as a precaution to prevent any negative situation. Police and relevant teams took security measures around the building. With the evacuation decision, citizens were prevented from remaining in the building before the risk assessment was completed.
APPROXIMATELY 40 PEOPLE WILL STAY IN THE GUESTHOUSE
Yenişehir Municipality stepped in to meet the sheltering needs of the evacuated citizens. It was reported that approximately 40 people living in the building will be accommodated at the Yenişehir Municipality Guesthouse.
